A. Approval of Minutes
Jan opened the meeting and thanked all for attending.
B. Current Business
It had been reported to the NHW that there had been this month:
1 – Attempted Break-in
2 – Suspicious Car
1. There have been reports of a suspicious car been seen around 3.30am. Dark in colour, 1-2 people in the vehicle. 1 person walking up and down the streets, then gets in the car, it drives around then person gets out and has a walk around again.
2. A reported attempted burglary. (Flat Screen T.V.) Just purchased and installed. No packaging left outside at all. Possible watched and followed from Carrefour car park while loading car.
3. Brown handbag found on urbanisation empty except for a pair of glasses. Notice has been put in shops and bars, no response as yet, possible a holidaymaker.
4. On the 01.05.2008 a large bundle of cards handed to Jan. These included Residencia card, SIP card, bank card, driving licence etc. These were taken to the Police Local at Playa Flamenca with the above handbag as possible linked. Thanked by the Police and said that they would try to do their best to return to the owner.
5. Suspicious cars seen by the recycle bins in Largo Jardin. 1 Silver British registered Mercedes and 1 dark Peugeot estate British registered with Eastern European drivers and passengers. Could be linked to the above suspicious car seen in the early hours of the morning. Being dealt with by the Police, so far no outcome.
Circulated through Chris Poole of the Neighbourhood Watch, Orihuela Costa1. 4 violent muggings at La Zena, Villa Martin Plaza, Eagles Nest and La Zena Island. Four males spoke English. Possible Eastern Europeans, car BMW.
2. Car stolen in La Zena, Silver Mercedes registration MSST 3012, please keep a look out for it and if seen notify the Police Local.
3. Suspicious vehicle seen in La Cinuela, white Renault Clio, Occupants 3 North Africans
4. Suspicious vehicle 30.04.2008 Playa Golf. A white Peugeot 106 when realised that was being watched got out and covered the licence plate up with a flag. This car, also seen in the area on the 14.04.2008 plate once again covered by a cloth.
C. Any Other Business
1. Dave Jones of Costa Blanca News, is doing a report on inflation and the exchange rate in Spain, and how it affects people. If you would like to assist in research for the article, please call Dave on 966 712 233.
2. As seen in the press, Torrevieja Police have been told by Chief of Police to accept Neighborhood Watch information and to act on any information given. A little behind the Orihuela Costa Police this setup has been in place for some five years now….
3. Please note at Lidle. still have a problem with young girls leaning on your trolley
and while doing so taking the 1e out be aware.
4. A key has been found in the swimming pool area; if you have lost one please apply
to Jan Emsley at No.681
5. Some of the doors in the post boxes have been damaged again and will not lock. If your door is not damaged please ensure that it is locked at all times. Thank you.
If you experience a crime or attempted crime, please let us know through your coordinator or Jan. This is one way of us being aware of the true figures of crime on our urbanization and hopefully we will see a continuing drop in the crime rate.
