Jan opened the meeting, thanked the large number of visitors for attending and confirmed that the Minutes of the previous meeting had been read and agreed. Yet again the problem of holiday
makers leaving windows, doors and grills open, particularly window shutters
when going out to retiring for the night was raised, and residents were asked
to enforce upon holiday makers and new residents the need for vigilance and
security. The silver Ford Focus car (5558 CRG)
has been seen on several occasions following incidents and the Police are
aware. Denise reported the following
incidents: |

There has been some suggestion of
proposed vigilante action – if this happens we will lose any goodwill and
assistance afforded to Vecinos Colaborando by the Police. It is their job to deal with criminals,
not ours, and they will withdraw their presence and support from the
urbanization. Denise told the meeting of a proposed
social event to be held in early June at the Olympia Restauant, Mil Palmeras,
in order to meet officers of the Policia Local. The cost is 14.50 Euros per person. Jan and Kath to get together and work
out a ‘cascading’ contacts list to help co-ordinators provide support to one
another when called out to deal with problems. Jan also thanked all co-ordinators for their work and support
through the year. Dave from Hilltops on Via Park III
reinforced the need for ladies to take great care of their handbags when
visiting restaurants, bars, etc.. The
thieves miss no opportunity to help themselves to our possessions, and unless
absolutely necessary, DON’T CARRY HANDBAGS. A group of youngsters has been seen firing
pellet guns at the windows of the Community Centre and street lights. They have been spoken to on several
occasions but if you see them, please try to find out where they live and
speak to the parents. If the problem
continues a Denuncia will be taken out against them – help needed by all. NEXT MEETING: Thursday, 10
June 2004, at 18.00 hrs. in the Community Centre. Anyone wishing to join NHW or to offer their services as
co-ordinators, please come to this meeting and speak to Jan or Kath. |
