GUARDALEST

The village of Guardalest lies in the mountains inland, about 25 kilometres from Benidorm. It can be reached by travelling to Benidorm on the A7 and then turning inland on the CV-70 road

From Dream Hills the journey should take about 2 hours.

Guardalest was once a military stronghold of great strategic importance, and is the site of several ancient fortifications

The village and it's fortifications have been torn apart by an earthquake, I think around 1400

Guardalest is one of the most popular tourist sites in Spain, so in the summer it is very busy, but still unspoilt

The village has many little streets and squares, giving the village a very unique appeal

At the top of the village there is a museum which is based in an old house. It costs a few euros to enter but it is well worthwhile as it also gives you access to the top of the rock

As you follow the path to the top of the rock it gives spectacular views of the surrounding village and the reservoir behind
Right at the top of the rock is the village cemetary

Like the Caves of Canalobre there are several companies that offer "Blanket Trips" which also include 2-3 hours in Guardalest. Good value and a pleasant day out if you don't mind an hours demonstration on bedding
