The Enchanted City (Ciudad Encantada) is located in the mountains about 25 miles north of Cuenca.

The Ciudad Encantada consists of strangely deformed rocks, sculptured by nature out of the rock, by the process of erosion and resembling the ruins of an ancient city, animals etc. Each rock has it's own name, like the Elephant, the Crocodile etc.

The trip from Cuenca to the Ciudad Encantada and back is an experience in itself, taking you along wonderful winding roads high up into the mountains. The Ciudad Encantada stand on a site of around 500 acres (200 hectares). It is in a remote area, which can have snow in the winter months
