| The impressive Caves of Canelobre are a prehistoric natural feature near the village of Busot, situated about 24 Km. inland from Alicante, at a height of about 700 m. on the northern side of Cabeco d'Or. Take exit 67 off the A7, just north of Alicante, and follow the signs to Busot. From Dreamhills the journey will take about an hour and a half The drive to the caves and the views of the surrounding countryside, from in front of the caves, is worth a visit alone
The interior of the cave, which is a huge cathedral like vault, is one of the highest vaults in Spain, and portray incredible shapes. You can admire the varied and whimsical forms that the rocks have adapted: candelabra, animals and many other spectacular shapes. Photographs are not allowed inside On certain occasions the acoustic and atmospheric conditions of the caves have been made availed for concerts, the quality of sound generated at these musical events is quite unique. Makes an interesting half day out which can easily be extended by calling in somewhere for a leisurely lunch Like the village of Guardalest there are several companies that offer "Blanket Trips" which also include a trip to the caves.
