SAN MIGUEL
This ride involves some minor
roads, a few small hills, between Dream Hills and Entre Golf,
and is a return ride to San Miguel. Leave Dream Hills for Dream
Hills II and cross the bridge over the Autoroute (AP7). We are
going to make our way towards the next bridge over the AP7,
which you can see to your left
After crossing the bridge turn
to the left and follow the road towards Entre Golf. At the first
junction, by the site of another new bridge, still to be built,
turn left and climb the hill. At the top of the hill turn left
and you will come to a roundabout by the bridge over the AP7,
that you could see when you crossed the first bridge

Go straight over this roundabout
(Not over the AP7) and down the hill. Straight over the next
roundabout and up the gentle hill through the urbanisation.
At the top of the urbanisation cross the roundabout and you
should be on a bridge over the Canal del Campo de Cartegena
This canal runs from about 5
miles above San Miguel (Lake Pedrera) and takes water to Cartegena.
It has a service road running along the side of it, which unfortunately
people with cars do use as a short cut. This tends to be busier
when close to the urbanisations and quiter when you get out
into the countryside
Turn right along the service
road which will take you through open countryside to San Miguel

Turn left along the service road.
The road soon has no entry barriers across it which stops it
being used by cars. The road passes between the golf courses
of Campoamor and Las Ramblas
LA FLORIDA
This ride involves some minor
roads, a few small hills, between Dream Hills and Entre Golf,
and is a circular route returning through La Florida. Leave
Dream Hills for Dream Hills II and cross the bridge over the
Autoroute (AP7). We are going to make our way towards the next
bridge over the AP7, which you can see to your left
After crossing the bridge turn
to the left and follow the road towards Entre Golf. At the first
junction, by the site of another new bridge, still to be built,
turn left and climb the hill. At the top of the hill turn left
and you will come to a roundabout by the bridge over the AP7,
that you could see when you crossed the first bridge

Go left at the roundabout and
cross over the AP7. Continue on this road for about half a mile
until you come to a junctio with a larger road, and turn left.
After about half a mile the road bends slightly to the right
and there is a road forking off to the left, which will bring
you to the small roundabout at the bottom of La Florida, at
the start of the dual carriageway that leads to the Saturday
Market
Before reaching the roundabout
follow the route to the left into La Florida and go passed Alfredos
and the Wicklow Abbey and straight up passed the Emerald Isle
and you will come to the waste ground opposire Via Park IV and
avoid the busy roads
SALT LAKES
TORREVIEJA
The ride begins from the Old
Railway Station, which is on the "Avenida de la Estacion",
just to the right of the N332, before you reach the Park of
Nations. By car you would go into Torrevieja on the old road
and turn off to the left where the salt conveyor crosses the
road. There is adequate parking on the road side
Follow the old railway line under
the N332 and along the side of the salt lake. This will take
you out of Torrevieja between the Salt Lake and the Crevillente
road, which goes out by Carrefour. The cycle track comes out
at the Garden Centre at Los Montesinos, which is between Los
Montesinos and the roundabout on the Crevillente road
This a pleasant, flat ride but
the views of the salt lakes are limited
LO PAGAN 1
Lo Pegan is about 20 - 25 minutes
drive south of Dreamhills. It is situated on the edge of the
Mar Menor. Drive south on the N332, following the signs for
San Pedro del Pinatar until, as you start to enter the town,
you come to a roundabout with a boat in the centre. Turn left
here, rather than going to the town centre and follow this road
over another 2 roundabouts. This should bring you to the most
northerly edge of San Pedro de Pinatar and the begining of the
Mar Menor, near the windmill. There is car parking in the streets
opposite the windmill or on the right hand side of the road
as you approach the windmill
There is a long promenade dividing
the Mar Menor from the salt lakes, on which cars and motorcycles
are not allowed
This is a pleasant ride with
the salt lake son your left and the Mar Menor on your right
After about 3/4 of a mile you
will come to a windmill/pumping station, where the road turns
into a dirt track, which then bends around to the left
If you continue to follow the
track it will eventually bring you to the beach. If you do not
want to return by the same route you can go left on the beach
until you come to a harbour and then follow the road back which
brings you out on the roundabout before the starting point.
This road has a cycle road at the side and is probably about
15 kms
LO PEGAN 2
At the start of the Promenade
that goes out towards La Manga, turn right and follow the Promenade
along the beach of the Mar Menor. The Promenade continues around
for about 1 1/2miles, almost to the Airport at San Javier
A pleasant flat ride with lots
to look at and plenty of cafes enroute for a coffee
LO PEGAN 3
Cross the main road and use the
cycle road on the far side to ride back along the road that
you have used to entered Lo Pegan. After about 1/2 a mile there
is a gateway on your right that follows a small stream. This
path will take you Northwards, parallel to the coast and up
to Torre de la Horadada
GUARDAMAR
Travel up the N332 towards Alicante.
After you pass Guardamar leave the N332 at the northern end
of Guardamar, signed to Rojales and near the Wok and Via Park
IV. As you come off the N332 you will come to a roundabout.
Take the second right turn, which takes you into Guardamar,
towards the marina and the many new high rise apartments that
have recently been built. After you pass the apartments you
will come to the marina. You can park in the marina car park
or use the roadside if you want to avoid paying
Ride around the Marina, past
the cafe and out of the far gate. Turn right down a straight
narrow road that runs through the Dunas de Guardamar. The road
is lined with Cactus plants and the beach is on your left behind
the sand dunes. The road leads into the Parque de Alfonso VIII.
At the top of this park you will eventually come to the main
road. If you can park the bikes cross the road into the Parque
Reina Sofia, which has peacocks and turtles
We have used this more as a walk
than a cycle ride. If you are on foot, walk down to the beach
and follow the beach, North, back to the Marina
GUARDAMAR
TO ROJALES
Travel up the N332 towards Alicante.
After you pass Guardamar leave the N332 at the northern end
of Guardamar, signed to Rojales and near the Wok and Via Park
IV. As you come off the N332 you will come to a roundabout.
Take the second right turn, which takes you into Guardamar,
towards the marina and the many new high rise apartments that
have recently been built. As soon as you can park by the side
of the road
Go back to the roundabout and
take the right turn to Rojales. The road goes under the bridge
which carries the N332. As you leave the roundabout stick to
the right and follow the dirt track which also passes under
the bridge, and is next to the River Segura. The track follows
the bank of the Segura for 2 or 3 miles to the town of Rojales.
There are several bridges over the river so you can swop sides
for some different scenery
Nice countryside and Rojales
offers choices for a coffee. The road is good but a bit stoney
which can make it a bit uncomfortable
