MEETING OF DREAM HILLS COMMUNITY COMMITTEE ON

01 OCTOBER 2004, AT THE COMMUNITY CENTRE.

Present: Stefan, Bill, Roger, Mags, Linda, Gerry, Peter, Christopher, Kath Apology: Christine

	The object of this meeting was to discuss possible uses of the community centre for all residents. The following suggestions, received from permanent residents and also from the Dream Hills internet web site, were put forward:
1.	Coffee mornings/afternoons, particularly for the benefit of new-comers.
2.	Book/Video/DVD swap facility.
3.	Bridge/Whist/Chess sessions.
4.	Bible study.
5.	Quiz nights.
6.	Philatelists club.
7.	Aerobics sessions/water aerobics. NB: Stefan has checked with the insurers and they will not cover ‘sports’ injuries. Therefore, aerobics cannot be permitted.
8.	Children’s parties/play group.
9.	Spanish lessons.
	Additional suggestions should be put in writing, to your committee representative or to the mailbox. This is a community centre, for your use, and your ideas are requested.

The President will investigate the cost of insurance for the contents of the community centre, and also public liability insurance if aerobics or children’s activities are to take place.

Linda agreed to take bookings and maintain a diary. Whoever makes the booking will be keyholder, responsible for ensuring that the centre is left in a clean and tidy state (including the toilet), and return of the key. It was suggested that a refundable deposit be taken as insurance against damages/breakages.

All activities are to be non-profit making, but a small donation towards the cost of water/electricity and cleaning materials will be required.

The official opening will take place towards the end of October/early November – date to be confirmed.

PLEASE NOTE: Saturday, 09 October 2004 is a Bank Holiday. The surgery scheduled for Saturday will therefore be postponed until Monday, 11 October. A notice will be placed on the Notice Boards but please mention it to your neighbours who may not have read these Minutes.
